Thank You

I am grateful to each and every person who cast their ballot for me in this election, putting their trust in my service with their vote.

Saturday evening was a joyful occasion as we watched our campaign come to a successful conclusion. Thanks to your support, we will have another three years to work together to bring the community voice to City Hall.

These past six months have been challenging yet rewarding. I would also like to thank my terrific campaign staff, consultants, and volunteers who brought the wisdom, expertise, and commitment to bring our campaign to victory.

I want to take a moment to thank my opponents for running vigorous issue-oriented campaigns. In particular I want to acknowledge Eric Rangel, who I came to know and admire in the course of the campaign. He's smart, hard-working and committed to Austin. I look forward to seeing his active involvement on city issues in the future.

We have much to be grateful for as Austinites, living in a city that is regularly recognized as number one in so many facets of life, and we are the envy of many. But we also have enormous challenges ahead and cannot settle for being a city where so many families are struggling with unemployment and half our children live in low income households. Our vision for the future is defined by our core values of equity and opportunity and I look forward to continuing our partnerships in working to achieve that vision.

It is an honor and a distinct privilege to be your City Council member and I pledge to continue to be Your Voice at City Hall.

Again, thank you so much for your support!

Sincerely, Laura
